Sponsor a child
Sponsorship makes a major impact on your child every day. Your contribution of $46 per month ($550 per year) will provide a large proportion of your child’s food, housing, eduction and ongoing healthcare. There are two categories of Sponsorship namely Home & Healthcare and Education.
Each sponsor will receive a Welcome Pack which contains a photo and details of your child, details on how to communicate with your child, as well as information on the relevant partner organisation Childrens Welfare Centre Nepal. You will receive a yearly Sponsor Report outlining your childs progress.
You are also encouraged to communicate with your child through our Sponsorship Co-ordinator.
Is my donation Tax deductable?
Childrens Aid International Inc (ABN 49 379 838 551) is endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) with the Australian Taxation Office from 1 July 2016. You may be able to claim a tax deduction for sponsorships and donations greater than $2. For more information please visit the ATO Website. Please contact us if you require a receipt for your tax records or you have any further questions.
How much of my donation is passed on?
As we are a volunteer organisation 100% of your donation and sponsorship money is forwarded directly to Childrens Welfare Centre Nepal. Each year we will issue you with a receipt for your donations and you may use this receipt as a possible tax deduction.
Can I visit my sponsor child at CWC?
This can be arranged through CAI or directly with CWC. CWC encourages volunteers as the children love having visitors. Another pair of hands is always welcome with up to 50 children to care for. If you wish to volunteer a small charge to cover your costs is required, but the rewards of spending time with these wonderful children out ways any out of pocket expenses.
Can I correspond with my sponsor child at CWC?
Yes, the children love to hear from you. Your letters become very special to the children and are read many times. You can email your letters to our sponsorship co-ordinator and censored to ensure they are appropriate and then forwarded to the Centre. An email response will be forwarded to your email address within a month or two. We recommended that emails are sent no more than once a month due to circumstances beyond our control. We cannot guarantee a response to more frequent contact.
Can I adopt a sponsor child?
As legislation stands Australians are not able to adopt from Nepal at present. The Children of the Childrens Welfare Centre would not be put forward for adoption if adoption was possible.
How did my child end up at CWC?
All the children at CWC were either orphaned, abandoned or their families are not in a position to care or provide for them. The Community Development Committee for the childs village would apply to the Centre requesting a place for the child. Background checks establish the needs of a child before a place is offered. Family relatives and friends are encouraged to visit the children if possible.
Can my sponsor child speak English?
School children learn English, reading and writing alongside a Nepali curriculum, similar to our recognised core subjects. All the children at the CWC can communicate in English with different levels of expertise.
