Childrens Aid International Inc. (CAI) is a volunteer run, non-profit, Queensland registered charity established in 2010. Our mission is to raise funds, promote awareness and provide opportunities to support women and children in developing countries. We do this by building relationships with small or overlooked organisations and help them to provide shelter, security, education and healthcare for their communities.

The Beginning

In 2008 Renee Cansdale spent a life-changing 6 weeks volunteering in a childrens’ home in Nepal called the Childrens Welfare Centre, Nepal (CWC). She was so touched by the experience that she took her husband David back to the children’s home in 2009.

During this second trip they both established a strong relationship with the Nepali family who ran the children’s home and learnt that they were suffering financial hardship.

Determined to raise awareness about the issues facing children in third world countries and to raise money for CWC, they created and lead a 23 day tour of Nepal in January 2010. The tour members were so inspired that on their return they founded a charity called Childrens Aid International Inc..

The Present and Future

Currently CAI have around 30 children sponsored at Childrens Welfare Centre (CWC) Nepal. We also receive individual donations, host fundraising events and sell handicraft at market stalls. We have assisted a number of other organisations to run regular fundraising tours to Nepal including Rotaract Clubs, Women Welcoming Women World Wide (5W) and a school.

Many of our members and supporters have been to Nepal and have either personally met the children at CWC or plan to visit in the near future.
