The Childrens Welfare Centre (CWC) is a non-profit, Nepalese run Non Government Organisation established in 1995. They are located in Godawari, approximately 40 minutes south of central Kathmandu. CWC was founded to provide residential care for children who are socially disadvantaged, helpless or abandoned. Many children at CWC come from remote areas of Nepal where, due to dire family circumstances, they were unable to receive adequate food, shelter or education. Others have been found wandering the streets, abandoned. CWC strives to give a future to some of the most impoverished children in the country.
CWC was established by Mrs Rupar Sunar to make a difference for underprivileged and helpless children. CWC’s goal is to help children regain their right to a childhood, education, and the love of a family. CWC also aims to support each child to integrate into Nepali life as educated and empowered young adults. While the children establish deep bonds with their brothers and sisters at CWC, they are also encouraged to keep ties with their village and extended family members if known and many travel home during the holiday periods where possible and safe to do so.
